You do not have to get stuck on a waiting list for the Start Program. My friend found a program that is available and is not being used to its full potential. She sent me these links.

went to google  searched child action came to this

that brought me to this ..

click on this to see all the centers and counties, or just call your childs school see if they offer this ..

click on the puzzle in your area
By filling out the CEL application, you gain access to multiple subsidized child care programs in your county, and improve your chances of obtaining child care at locations of your choice that offer free or low-cost child care.
How Do I Apply for Help?
There are two ways to apply to get on the Centralized Eligibility List (CEL):
Online: If you have access to a computer, you can submit an application through our website, http://sacramento.thecel.net.
Follow the instructions to begin the application process. If you fill out the application on-line, you will be able to update your own information using your log-in and password.
Call Us: Give us a call at (916) 369-0191 and speak with a Child Action, Inc. Information Specialist, who will assist you with determining your eligibility and filling out the CEL application. We can mail or fax a CEL application to you, or we can help you fill out the online CEL application over the phone.
after clicking on this below  you will see on left side...  all the counties they help.
Thank you to Nicole Risso. We love you for passing this on to other single parents struggling to find affordable childcare.

Hello,

I think it is great that you are offering information for parents to receive subsidized childcare. Another tip is to apply in two different programs because most free childcare is half day, so use one in the morning and one in the afternoon until you can move up the list to full day services. I did it for a year. I also provide a listing of free childcare in Sacramento, I made the listing to help others, Please go to: http://www.onefatherslove.com/daycare.aspx I have numerous other listing for single parents and fathers, moms, infants, toddlers and just about anything to help families. I hope you will like the "online resource center", I do not sell, charge anything and there is no login or registration that I believe exploits people's information. If you have any suggestions let me know.
