Kaiser Permanente
OFFLINE

I was performing a search of my Kaiser Permanente Doctor on their website,  as a second check I looked at the Medical Board for the State of California website.

This is Shocking.......The people of the State of California not only deserve but have the right to know all information about their health care providers.  Further,  all information should be accurate and true.

The Medical Board of California states that Dr. Tayyiba Awan graduated from Grant Medical College at the University of Bombay.  However Kaiser Permanente states that Dr. Tayyiba Awan graduated form King Edward Medical College Lahore Pakistan.

I understand that when foreign trained Doctors try and get licenses in the US they may have to obtain additional training in the US.  However this does not explain how or why the differences in where this Doctor obtained her original medical training.

How can I as a consumer pick with knowledge and confidence a Doctor if the information which I am presented to choose a Health Care Provider is suspect.

I contacted the Medical Board of California with the discrepancies and they were unable to provide any explanation.  I contacted the Physician recruiter office at Kaiser Permanente to see if they could explain,  they did not return my phone call.

So the California Medical Board can not tell a consumer when a Foreign Medical School was approved by the State.

This failure by the state leads my to the following questions;
1.  Did this doctor submit false medical credentials in 1975 ?
2.  How and why would the state change the name and country of the medical school attended with out a note of explanation ?
3.  Why did it take 35 years to correct this error ?
4.  The medical board employees state that every student is checked with a phone call to the school,  well this could not of happened if
they had the incorrect school listed for 35 years ?
5.  What is the California Medical Board hiding ?

So it has taken Dr. Awan and Kaiser 35 years to correct the name and location of the medical school that this doctor attended.

This is most disturbing.

1.  Why would the State of California enter a new school and country after 35 years,  whitout an explanition on there website ?

2.  How could a mistake like this happen ?

3.  With this kind of error I still have the same question is this doctor a real doctor

A person for the Physician Recruitment Department did return my call a couple of days later and stated she checked the Doctors Medical Diploma and
Transcripts and conformed that the Doctor attended medical school in Pakistan.  she also stated that she has asked the Doctor to go down to the State
Medical Board and have the records corrected.

It has been over 5 Months and NO records have been corrected.

I again contacted the same person in Physician Recruitment Department at Kaiser,  she will check this out and call me back.

One question I would like to pose to the California Medical Board is why in cases like this when a person of the public has serious questions on their
Doctor,  why will the California Medical Board NOT release a copy of the Doctors Medical School Diploma to the person requesting it under the California
Public Records Act?
